The Musings of Reverend Catherine Harrington
August, 2006
Ah! I love summer in Ludington! Well, most of the time. When I tried to get a pizza at the Sportsman during the Gus Macker Tournament, I longed for quieter days… but only for a moment. With warmer weather comes tourists and traffic but summer also brings our perennial members, friends, and visitors who brighten our church and our lives.
Remember that old Beach Boys song, “Summertime?”
T-shirts, cut-offs and a pair of thongs,
We've been having fun all summer long
(All summer long you've been with me)
I can' see enough of you
(All summer long we've both been free)
Won't be long 'til summer time is through
(Summer time is through).
Yep, won’t be long. But I won’t dwell on that grim reality except to remind you all to gather some water from your vacation spot, or your favorite kayaking river or stream, or that fishin’ hole, or from your very own kitchen sink for our annual water communion service on September 10, a time of gathering, renewing and celebrating life together again. The water will be collected and sterilized and used for our Child Dedication rituals and Vesper services which will resume in the fall.
