THANKS!!!!!
This has been such a busy period for People’s Church that someone who should be thanked is likely to be missed in this listing. If you are that someone or you know someone I’ve missed, please let me know.

The Big Think was a success as far as this participant was concerned. It was interesting to work with members and friends toward the goal of draft Vision and Mission Statements, and to brainstorm future goals. My session leaders (Sue Scarfino and Richard Boulais) were excellent at eliciting ideas and keeping us on track and I’m sure the others (Judith Dila, Peg Gage, Chrissie Hall, and Ron Steiner) were also. We accomplished the goals set for us. Thank you to the board for bringing Dave Rickard to facilitate our discussions. So much useful work was accomplished in less than four hours.
And thanks to the board and the facilitators for spending a Friday night going through the entire “Big Think” program so they would have personal insight when they presented it to us the next day.
On Father’s Day, Doris King with her lovely piano style was guest accompanist . And the offertory featured two people to be thankful for: Ava and Callahan both played piano pieces for us. |

CLASSIFIED AD - HELP WANTED!
With the number of new members and friends in our congregation, it seems a good time to make note of the opportunities available for volunteer work right here in our Own church community. As a small church, volunteer burnout is inevitable unless we can expand the number of people sharing the work. One area where help is needed, Simply because there are only four of us currently involved, is that of Sanctuary Keeping. For those months where there are 5 Sundays, or at those times when one or two of us might be ill or out of town, we are left doing double duty, or desperately searching for someone who might fill in. Sanctuary Keepers arrive early to make sure doors are unlocked and lights on. They replenish candles used in the service, place glasses of water in the pulpit for the Minister and the Worship Associate, straighten chairs, pick up wayward leaves and other detritus in the sanctuary, water plants, and generally make the room orderly and pleasant. Following the service, the procedure is essentially reversed and, unless those in charge of Social Hour have their own keys, the Sanctuary Keeper stays to close up the building. This rarely is necessary. Detailed instructions are available to make the entire process easy to remember and follow. If you would consider being a substitute Sanctuary Keeper, on call for those Sundays when help is needed, see Anne Pettigrew, Alice Dennison, Carolyn Beeker or Carol Farley. We'll see that you get an informal training and answer any questions. Please note that failure to water Mary Markov's plant is the only serious offense possible. Beyond that, there is a deep satisfaction in facilitating our Sunday morning worship. |
