AUGUST RUSH

This is a story of a 12-year-old music prodigy and his search for his family. Lyla is a renowned and beautiful cellist and Louis is a bass player in a club. Lyla and Louis fall in love, and Lyla becomes pregnant. Since they have different lives and dominating parents, they are forced to separate without seeing each other again. Lyla has an accident and bears the baby, Evan, but Lyla's father tells her that the baby did not survive and gives him to an orphanage without telling her, for fear of affecting her career. Eleven years later, an innocent little Evan believes that his parents are waiting for him and goes off to New York alone to find them. There his musical gift leads him to success but also gives him some trouble. How will music bring this little family together?

Dr. Lou Yock discusses the questions, and examines the terminology, used in bioethics as we wrestle with the medical dilemmas we all face.
